SUMMARY:Vintage Wings of Canada Warbird U - Yellow Wings Ground School
DESCRIPTION:Sit in for the day with the Vintage Wings of Canada Yellow Wing
 s flight crew for their day long annual recurrent training program on the 
 Fleet Finch biplane\, Fleet-built Fairchild Cornell and the North American
  Harvard Mk IV. These aircraft were instrumental in the training of pilots
  as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan that produced thous
 ands of aircrew here in Canada during the Second World War. Throughout thi
 s program\, our seasoned Vintage Wings pilots will give you the ins and ou
 ts\, ups and downs of each of the aircraft that you won’t find in any bo
 ok\, things only learned through many years of experience.\n\nTo start off
  the day\, Don Buchan will give a briefing on the BCATP and its impact on 
 aviation in Canada. Dave Hadfield will follow up with an in-depth talk on 
 the characteristics of flying taildragger aircraft.\n\nNext up will be Pet
 er Ashwood Smith with his briefing on the Fleet Finch.\n\nFollowing a lunc
 h break\, Don Buchan will run you through the Fleet-built Fairchild Cornel
 l followed by Mike Ruddick and John Aitken getting into the details of the
  Harvard.\n\nThe day will be broken up with coffee breaks where you will b
 e able to get up close and personal with each of the aircraft.\n\nEach of 
 the aircraft briefings will cover:\n\n• Aircraft technical systems\, eng
 ine\, hydraulics\, controls and instrumentation\n\n• Aircraft handling a
 nd flying characteristics\n\nVintage Wings members/students* – $75 (CDN)
 \n\nNon-members – $90 (CDN)\n\nTuition includes lunch and coffee breaks\
 n\n* 18 and under – Student ID will be asked for upon arrival
