DESCRIPTION:Warbirds Over Wanaka is operated by a charitable Community Trus
 t. Our Mission is ‘To educate through the celebration and promotion of a
 viation past and present.’ 2018 marks the 30th Anniversary of this iconi
 c internationally renowned Airshow. We are recreating some of the most pop
 ular acts of the past three decades.\n\nAIRSHOW PROGRAMME 2018\n\nFriday 3
 0th March – Practice Day\nGates open at 7.30am for all three days. Check
  out the ground exhibits while Warbirds practice overhead. Visit the aircr
 aft for sale\, static aircraft displays\, aviation trade stands\, market s
 talls and then sample some of the great food and beverages on offer.\n\nLa
 ke Event\nOn Friday at the Wanaka lakefront\, join the Wanaka community fo
 r our free lakeside Airshow. We are celebrating helicopters big and small 
 with a return visit by the mighty Catalina Flying Boat.\n\nSaturday 31st M
 arch and Sunday 1st April - Airshow days\nStatic aircraft displays\, aviat
 ion trade stands\, market stalls\, merchandise and food and beverage vendo
 rs are operational. The Airshow begins at 10.00am with non-stop action rig
 ht through to the fiery finale at 4.00pm.\n\nIn the air you will see some 
 of the world’s most iconic Warbird aircraft plus more modern military ma
 chines\, aerobatics\, skydiving\, sport aircraft and much more. The aerial
  action is backed by world-class pyrotechnics while the military re-enacto
 r group and Frankie Singers entertain on the ground.\n\nAIRCRAFT COMING\nC
 rowd favourites the Spitfire\, Corsair\, P40 Kittyhawk\, P51 Mustang and C
 atalina will be on the flightline along with some other very special aircr
 aft. Sport aircraft will show off their unique handling abilities.\n\nAir 
 Forces from around the region include the French from Noumea and the RNZAF
 ’s new Black Falcons putting on a full aerobatic display. Aircraft inclu
 de fighter jets\, military transport and military helicopters.\n\nRIDES DA
 Y\nA chance to tick off that bucket list Warbird aircraft ride. Various ai
 rcraft owners will have their aircraft available for rides on Monday April
  2nd.\n\nGROUND DISPLAYS\nWarbirds Over Wanaka is famous for the variety o
 f ground displays including Wanaka Warhorses. Static aircraft displays inc
 lude civilian and military aircraft. A number of leading aircraft manufact
 urers are at Wanaka to show off their new aircraft. Aviation trade stands 
 offer everything from headsets to flying jackets. In 2018 we will have man
 y of New Zealand’s leading flight training organisations on site.\n\nWan
 aka is also famous for its stationary engines which line the main entrance
 way. In 2018 we are hosting a car rally which will include some of the wor
 ld’s most stunning classic 50 Packard cars.\n\nChildren\, Veterans\, the
  disabled and elderly are most welcome.
