NASA Dryden played a key role in advancing the Grumman F-14 Tomcat’s capabilities through two major research programs. From 1979 to 1985 two F-14 explored high-angle-of-attack handling and spin recovery, and later contributed to laminar flow research in the Variable-Sweep Transition Flight Experiment.
