2014 marks the 75th Anniversary of the North American Harvard entering service with the Royal Canadian Air Force. To mark this special occasion, the Ontario-based Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association is hosting ‘A Gathering of Harvards and Heroes’ on June 20-22 at their home base of Tillsonburg Regional Airport.
As the name implies, this three day event will feature a gathering of not only Harvard aircraft, but also the men and women who built, maintained, instructed in and trained on the Harvard during more than 25 years of Canadian service between 1939 and 1965. Every airworthy Harvard across North America has been invited, and anywhere from 25-60 of the famous training aircraft are estimated to attend. Planned activities include flyovers of local ex-RCAF bases, and a mass celebration flypast. Also planned to attend are an RCAF CF-156 Harvard II and the Beechcraft T-6C Texan II demonstrator.
