54th National Stearman Fly-In Set for September 1–6, 2025 in Galesburg, IL — Pre-Registration Now Open

The unmistakable rumble of radial engines will fill the skies above Galesburg, Illinois, this Labor Day as the 54th National Stearman Fly-In returns from September 1–6, 2025.

The skies over Galesburg, Illinois, will once again be filled with the iconic hum of vintage biplanes as the 54th National Stearman Fly-In returns to the Galesburg Municipal Airport (KGBG) from September 1 to 6, 2025. Pre-registration is now open for this beloved annual gathering, which celebrates the legacy of the Boeing Stearman Model 75—an aircraft that trained thousands of WWII pilots and continues to captivate aviation enthusiasts worldwide.​

The Fly-In offers a rich blend of aviation activities and community events designed to engage both pilots and the public. Daily highlights include open-cockpit Stearman rides, narrated tram tours along the flight line, and hands-on seminars covering topics such as aircraft restoration, aerobatics, and maintenance. Pilots can participate in fly-outs to nearby airports, flour bombing contests, and formation flying demonstrations .​ Evening events foster camaraderie among attendees, featuring welcome picnics, pizza parties, and the annual banquet with awards presentations. Special programs like the “Gone West” memorial and presentations by notable aviation figures add depth to the experience, honoring both the history and the people who keep the Stearman spirit alive.

Held annually since 1972, the National Stearman Fly-In has grown into the largest event of its kind, drawing Stearman owners, pilots, and fans from across the country. Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
