The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Red Tail Squadron, America’s tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, will be at the Air Heritage Museum at the Beaver County Airport May 26 – May 30, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Their unique program brings the inspirational history of the Tuskegee Airmen out of the textbooks with their RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit. The event serves as a reminder of several area residents that served with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. In fact, western Pennsylvania holds a record for the most Tuskegee Airmen from one region. Admission to the museum and the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is FREE.

The event is a unique way to experience the inspiring story of America’s first black military pilots and their support personnel. The exciting RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is a fully functional movie theater featuring the original short film “Rise Above,” designed to take the audience on a journey through time – and then through the air. The theater’s dynamic 160-degree panoramic screen creates the sensation of being in the cockpit soaring above the clouds in the P-51C Mustang, the signature aircraft of the Tuskegee Airmen. It’s much more than a history lesson; the Tuskegee Airmen’s ability to triumph over adversity serves as a means to inspire others to RISE ABOVE obstacles in their own lives and achieve their goals.

School and community groups are invited to schedule private showings May 26 and May 27 by contacting Brenda Applegate of the Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation at (724) 775-1848. Student groups will receive a free CAF Red Tail Squadron inspirational dog tag featuring their Six Guiding Principles – Aim High, Believe In Yourself, Use Your Brain, Be Ready To Go, Never Quit, Expect to Win.

The CAF Red Tail Squadron’s visit to Beaver County is made possible by the Air Heritage Museum and the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial of the Western Pennsylvania Region. The event also coincides with the EAA Ford Tri-Motor Tour, one of the few remaining airworthy Ford Tri-Motors in the world.
