2013 Kokomo Wings and Wheels Air and Car Show: June 8th



7227e806ca0a97bd687cc309509964bdThe 2013 Kokomo Wings and Wheels Air and Car Show will be held at the Kokomo Municipal Airport in Kokomo, Indiana on June 8th, with gates opening at 8AM. This free event will feature a number of aerobatic and warbird acts as well as an antique and hot rod car show.

Warbirds scheduled for aerial display include Nathan Davis’ “Checkertail” P-51 Mustang, Laura Stants’ “Checkertail” T-6 Texan, Greg Aldridge’s Aero L-29 Delfín, the American Military Heritage Foundation‘s PV-2 Harpoon, Bill Finney’s L-19 Bird Dog as well as performances by a Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor, Stinson L-5 Sentinel, Vultee BT-13 Valiant, Fairchild PT-23, Beechcraft T-34 Mentor, several additonal T-6s and even a Yakovlev Yak.

Scheduled aerobatic performances include Cliff Robinson in his Stearman, Billy Werth in the Christian Eagle, Al Hoover in his Stearman, Patrick McAllee in his Pitts Special and local pilots Mike Wild in his Super Decathlon and Ty Lingo in his Piper J-3 Cub.

Many additional warbirds, experimental, and aerobatic aircraft will be on static display, including the Indiana Air National Guard’s Black Hawks and a Grissom ARB Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker. There will be a pancake breakfast from 8AM until 11AM. Lunch starts at 12 PM. Advanced sale food tickets are $5 in advance and $7 the day of the event and the aerial performances start at 1 PM.

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
