Adam Estes – Researcher/Reporter -USA
I grew up in Fullerton, California, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in History and am currently pursuing a Master’s in the same field. My fascination with aviation history began before I can even remember. Starting with books, VHS tapes, DVDs of documentaries, and scale models, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit several air museums across the United States, including the National Air and Space Museum, the Pima Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of the United States Air Force, and the San Diego Air and Space Museum, among many others. I volunteer at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, where I serve as a docent and researcher. At Chino, I’ve also gained hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance and detailing, and I aspire to earn my pilot’s license someday. My knowledge of aviation history has often been described as encyclopedic, with a particular interest in the individual stories of aircraft—the crews who manned them, their roles in postwar settings, and their journeys to becoming part of museums or being maintained by their current owners. Additionally, I’m active in several online communities and highly value sharing my work with the widest possible audience. I am also a member of the American Aviation Historical Society (AAHS).
