This is not our typical topic but if you are a reader of Warbirds News you know that we always try to come up with unique and interesting content. Alison is an Atlanta native and a professional singer, actress, and model. She studied music and theater at Florida State University and is the Artistic Director and Founder of The Twilight Theater in Peachtree City, GA. She also portrays Marilyn Monroe at events, but Betty is her fave. A firm believer that she was born in the wrong era, Alison loves the 1940s – the people, the patriotism, the music, and the clothes. A lover of all things vintage, Alison is also an ardent supporter of the US military and loves when she gets to combine her loves of performing and history as Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, or a Pinup Girl.
Alison Chambers has been the CAF Dixie Wing’s Betty Grable for 5 years. After seeing Alison at an event where she was portraying Marilyn Monroe, Pam Ellis – the Wing’s photographer- asked if Alison thought she could pull off Betty Grable. A few weeks later Alison was at WWII Days, and that was all she wrote. Elizabeth Ruth “Betty” Grable was an American actress, dancer, and singer. Grable was celebrated for having the most beautiful legs in Hollywood and studio publicity widely dispersed photos featuring them. Betty Grable was considered by many the most famous pinup girl from WWII. Betty was a favorite of American soldiers and had her legs insured for $1 million.
Alison has since produced USO shows for WWII Days and other events, started a group of singing American pinups – Bombshells United -, and currently travels the country portraying Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, and performing at air shows and veterans events. She is a singer, actress, and pinup model, and Alison also teaches voice lessons to local youth and teens.
Alison is extremely devoted to our men and women in uniform – those who served and continue to serve. Most recently, she organized and put on a “welcome home” event for Vietnam veterans in honor of the 40th anniversary of the return of the troops.
Alison loves combining her loves of performing and history, and it is her hope to continue to bring the past alive for veterans and audiences all over the country. It is her dream to one day go overseas with the USO and perform for the troops.
