In a recent press announcement, Doc’s Friends, the organization which owns, operates and maintains the Boeing B-29 Superfortress known as Doc has announced that…

The aircraft will will bring its B-29 Doc Flight Experience and ground display tour to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Phoenix, Arizona during mid-September. Doc will arrive at Cutter Aviation at Albuquerque International Sunport on Thursday, September 12th, and will be available for B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides as well as ground and flight deck tours Friday, September 13th through Sunday the 15th. The tour stop in Phoenix, Arizona will also be hosted by Cutter Aviation at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport from Tuesday, September 17th through Wednesday the 18th.

“We are excited to land in New Mexico and Arizona to give warbird enthusiasts in the southwest the unique opportunity to see one of only two remaining B-29 Superfortresses,” said Josh Wells, Doc’s Friends general manager and executive director. “Those who visit will get an up-close and one-of-a-kind look at history and learn more about our mission of honoring the Greatest Generation, while educating future generations about our nation’s history. We feel that partnering with Cutter Aviation, the oldest family-owned and operated FBO network in the world, seemed like a fitting kickoff to our first west coast tour.”

Meanwhile, details on the full west coast tour schedule for Doc in September and early October are still being planned. “Albuquerque and Phoenix are just the first two stops on the tour that departs Wichita on September 12th,” Wells said. “We are still finalizing multiple stops in California, which will include the area near where Doc was rescued from the Mojave Desert and China Lake Naval Station. Details on those tour stops will be announced very soon.”
