The Museum of Flight to Host Yuri’s Night Celebration on April 11

The Museum of Flight will transform its main gallery into a space-themed dance floor on April 11 for its annual 21-and-over Yuri’s Night celebration. The evening will feature electronic music headlined by German DJ Chris Luno, along with a live discussion and Q&A session with retired NASA astronaut Steve Robinson. The global Yuri’s Night event commemorates Yuri Gagarin’s first human spaceflight and the debut of the Space Shuttle.

The Museum of Flight, Seattle, WA, will host what it describes as North America’s largest Yuri’s Night celebration on April 11, transforming its main gallery into a space-themed dance venue from 6 to 11 p.m. The annual 21-and-over event marks Yuri’s Night, a global celebration of human spaceflight held each April. The evening blends electronic music, space-themed performances, cosplay, and discussions about real-world and imagined space exploration.

German DJ Chris Luno is scheduled to headline the event. Luno has built an international following in the electronic music scene and has performed at major festivals, including Burning Man and Ultra Miami. He has also shared stages with artists such as Diplo and Black Coffee.

The event will also feature a conversation with retired NASA astronaut Steve Robinson. Robinson, a four-time space shuttle astronaut and veteran spacewalker, will join the museum’s space curator, Geoff Nunn, for a discussion at 6 p.m. in the event’s Space Lounge. The conversation will focus on current and future spaceflight initiatives and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with attendees.

Yuri’s Night events are held worldwide each April to commemorate two milestones in space history: Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s first human spaceflight on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981.
