Often held in conjunction with air shows, fly days and other special events, these reenactments can run the gamut from simulated aerial dog fights, to air to ground battles with a cast of hundreds and featuring small arms, antiaircraft and artillery fire with explosions, smoke, fire and other pyrotechnic effects. Some of the larger, more elaborate reenactments include re-creations of domestic life and the popular culture prevalent on the home front during the forties, for the maximum immersive experience.
