The historic B-29 Doc, one of only two airworthy Boeing B-29 Superfortresses in the world, will make a highly anticipated stop at the Evansville Wartime Museum in Evansville, IN, from May 8 to 12, 2025. This rare World War II bomber, originally built in Wichita, KS, is part of the B-29 Doc History Restored Tour, giving visitors a unique opportunity to experience a living piece of aviation history. While in Evansville, the aircraft will be open for ground and cockpit tours, as well as offering the unforgettable chance to book a B-29 Doc Flight Experience ride.
Mark Novak, B-29 Doc’s chief pilot, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming visit. “We’re thrilled to bring the B-29 Doc History Restored Tour to the Evansville Wartime Museum. Evansville’s aviation history is deeply rooted in World War II, with local factories producing P-47 Thunderbolts and munitions that were essential to the war effort. The city was also home to a shipyard that launched numerous Landing Ship Tank (LST) vessels into the Ohio River, further cementing its role in wartime manufacturing. Meredith Marshall, events committee chair at the Evansville Wartime Museum, emphasized the significance of the visit. “Hosting B-29 Doc is an incredible honor. This aircraft represents the bravery and dedication of the men and women who served during World War II. Our mission is to educate future generations while paying tribute to the sacrifices made during one of the most pivotal periods in history.”
B-29 Doc is scheduled to arrive in Evansville on Thursday, May 8. Ground and cockpit tours will be available on Friday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 4 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides will take place at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. each day, followed by additional ground and cockpit tours from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 4 p.m. Visitors must purchase museum admission, plus an additional $5 per person for access to B-29 Doc during the event.
