A new warbird enthusiast group is forming up, the F-104 Starfighter Association. The F-104 Starfighter Association is dedicated to preserving more of the history of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, the Canadair CF-104 Starfighter and all of their variants, through first-person accounts and photographs from the pilots, engineers, maintainers and others who were associated with the legacy of these historically significant jet fighters.
The F-104 Starfighter Association is an independent, all volunteer, non-profit organization focused on providing high-quality, electronic publications devoted to the “missile with a man in it,” as well as establishing a social network that will communicate Starfighter experiences and information among its membership.
Stating that “The legacy of the F-104 Starfighter is too excellent to be forgotten,” the association, which is not directly associated with Lockheed or Lockheed Martin, is focused on providing high quality electronic publications devoted to the F-104. There are no dues to receive their e-publications, but they do require all members to submit one F-104-related short story, pictures or other information about the Starfighters at least once per year to contribute towards preserving the legacy of the Starfighter.

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.

I flew the F-104C at the PR Air national Guard and would like to join the select group of the F-104 Association
Just dropping by – Hoping all is well.
Hello, Sir
I was injured in the Middle East and have lost some memory. I am trying to piece together my father’s life, and was told that he flew the 104s out of Nellis.
A few answers would be very helpful and very appreciated.
What was the process for becoming a pilot in 1958 or so? He initially enlisted (I believe).
How long was OCS and where? How long was flight training?
Did he need a degree back then to be accepted?
What would his commitment be upon completion of flight training?
Any information would be most helpful.
Thank you in advance.
i’m just looking to read, again, some of the interesting comments we sent in when we signed up.
