“Lawton and Fort Sill have a rich history of Army aviation,” said Josh Wells, B-29 Doc executive director. “The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour provides a unique opportunity for people to get up close and personal with World War II history. Showcasing the 1940s-built technology of the B-29 Superfortress that helped deliver victory for the Allied Forces in the Pacific, while preserving the stories and legacies of the Greatest Generation and honoring the men and women who continue to train and serve to protect freedom is our mission.”
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to tour the interior of this historic aircraft, exploring the cockpit, bomb bay, and crew compartments. “We’re thrilled to welcome B-29 Doc to Lawton, offering the community a unique opportunity to experience this historic aircraft up close and discover its incredible story,” said Lawton Fort Sill Regional Airport Director Barbara McNally. “It’s a special event for our airport and the region.”
