ASHLAND, NE – (Aug. 31, 2015) – The Strategic Air & Space Museum will honor the fallen from September 11th, 2001 and the heroes who fought the United States of America’s battles throughout the years with a special remembrance program and lunch event. Remembrance, a program and lunch to be held on Friday, September 11th, 2015, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Strategic Air & Space Museum, will feature speakers Jeff Ewing, Colonel U.S. Army (retired) and Mike Connelly a first-responder Firefighter at ground zero. Col. Ewing was assigned to the Army Staff in the Pentagon in 2001. During his Army career, Col. Ewing held senior leadership positions and commanded soldiers at all levels, culminating with Brigade Command during the Iraq War. He has received numerous military service medals and commendations. Mike Connelly is a local Firefighter with the Papillion Nebraska Fire Department. Connelly was a Firefighter with the New York Fire Department for nineteen years and was a first-responder on the scene following the September 11th, 2001 attack on New York’s World Trade Center buildings. The program topic will include a remembrance from a Pentagon perspective and a salute to honor first-responders and America’s heroes. The public is invited to attend the Remembrance program on September 11th but an RSVP is required by September 8th, 2015. All military, retired, active, and veterans are invited to attend for free. Members may register for free and general admission of $12.00 per adult applies to non-military or non-member guests; a complementary lunch will be included with all RSVPs. Additionally, the Strategic Air & Space Museum will offer a special viewing of the NETTV STRATCOM 9/11 documentary in its ConAgra Foods Theater several times daily from Sept. 11, 2015 – Nov. 11, 2015.

Richard Mallory Allnutt's aviation passion ignited at the 1974 Farnborough Airshow. Raised in 1970s Britain, he was immersed in WWII aviation lore. Moving to Washington DC, he frequented the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum, meeting aviation legends.

After grad school, Richard worked for Lockheed-Martin but stayed devoted to aviation, volunteering at museums and honing his photography skills. In 2013, he became the founding editor of Warbirds News, now Vintage Aviation News. With around 800 articles written, he focuses on supporting grassroots aviation groups.

Richard values the connections made in the aviation community and is proud to help grow Vintage Aviation News.
