This past weekend the film “Into Flight Once More” premiered at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The film, narrated by Gary Sinise, brings the history of June 6, 1944, to the present through the lens of the D-Day Squadron and their epic recreation journey across the North Atlantic to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Along the trip, you meet some of the last remaining D-Day veterans and younger generations of men and women who have re-charted their path to honor their sacrifice and thank them for their service. At each stop on the journey from the United States to France, the veterans reconnect with the planes that flew, provisioned, rescued, supported, and meant so much to them during wartime. These honorable WWII men and women veterans reveal never before heard information as seeing these planes sparks memories held deep inside.
The journey will take you across the United States, and on to Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, England, and finally to France. You will learn the history and significance of these locations during wartime and the challenges that the crews faced in their mission to complete the journey.
