Museum of Flight’s All-Ages Spacesuit Design Contest Now Open

The Museum of Flight is now accepting entries into their all ages Spacesuit Design Contest. With the top design in each of the 4 age categories being showcased at the Museum's "Fashion in Flight" event on November 8, 2025.

The Museum of Flight is now accepting entries for its annual Spacesuit Design Contest, an all-ages exercise in fun fashion for fantasy spaceflights. This year’s theme is “Sustainability Suits,” and designers are challenged to build their suits in creative ways using recycled materials and items normally seen as waste.

The contest is open to anyone five and older, with participants divided into four categories based on age and the Top 5 designs in each category will be showcased in the Top 20 Fashion Show at the Museum on Saturday, June 28. There a panel of judges will decide the winning design for each age category, and the four winning designs will be showcased at the glamorous Fashion in Flight fashion show at the museum on November 8. Contest design proposals must be submitted by May 4, and the top 20 selections will be announced on May 16. The chosen designers will have until June 27 to build their spacesuit and wear it in the Top 20 Fashion Show on June 28. Details, dates and entry forms online here.


The Museum of Flight Seattle

Founded in 1965, the independent, nonprofit Museum of Flight is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, annually serving over 600,000 visitors. The Museum’s collection includes more than 160 historically significant airplanes and spacecraft, from the first fighter plane (1914) to today’s 787 Dreamliner.
