The RAF Museum Midlands will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a special weekend of celebrations on Saturday, 10 May and Sunday, 11 May 2025. Running from 10:00am to 5:00 pm each day, the event invites visitors of all ages to enjoy a vibrant programme of music, interactive activities, and heartfelt remembrance to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe. A highlight of the weekend will be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Lancaster bomber, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 10 May between 1:30 pm and 1:40 pm, weather permitting. This stirring tribute will honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served during the conflict.

Visitors can enjoy the uplifting sounds of a VE Day Concert from 1:00pm to 3:30pm on both days. The programme will begin with a welcome and commemorative poem from veterans of the National Service (RAF) Association, followed by performances from the RAF Voluntary Band Cosford and The Bluebird Belles, a popular vocal trio known for reviving the joyous swing tunes of the 1940s.

Throughout the weekend, families can take part in a range of free, hands-on activities. Guests can get creative at the VE Day Bunting Workshop by contributing to a Union Jack-themed display in the hangar, try on period RAF uniforms and capture a memorable selfie, or step into the Museum’s Lecture Theatre to watch original VE Day footage showcasing the euphoric celebrations of 1945. Visitors are encouraged to embrace the 1940s spirit by arriving in vintage attire—civilian or Allied military—for a chance to win the Best Dressed Family Prize.
