Better than anticipated weather conditions during the autumn months have enabled the volunteers at Newark Air Museum in the UK to complete the repaint work on their MiG-23. The museum acquired the aircraft in 2002, and in 2008 it received Polish Air Force markings and the number 458 red, though it never served in this air arm.
The aircraft, along with the museum’s MiG-27, was taken off site back in 2019 for use in the filming of the Marvel movie, Black Widow, where the markings do not seem to have changed, if perhaps the Polish insignia was removed by CGI. The current extensive repaint work has seen the application of a new set of Soviet markings and a new paint sceme to the MiG-23, which ensured that both aircraft have now been returned to a good display standard.
