EAA AirVenture 2019 – Final Photo Update

While EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 concluded a few days ago. We thought that you might enjoy a few final images from the last couple of days of the events (with much thanks to George Land!)

D75 4570 — A rare sight in the west, a pair of LIM-5 (MiG-17F) fighters taxiing out for takeoff at Oshkosh… Even rarer is that both of these aircraft are wearing almost identical livery, separated only by the airframe serial number painted on the nose. 1611, on the left, is owned by Fighter Jets, Inc. and is based at the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum in Tyler, Texas. 1713 belongs to Red Star Aero in Mobile, Alabama. It is interesting to see these primitive-looking 2nd generation jet combat aircraft paired against the 5th generation types to their rear. (photo by George Land)

Richard Mallory Allnutt's aviation passion ignited at the 1974 Farnborough Airshow. Raised in 1970s Britain, he was immersed in WWII aviation lore. Moving to Washington DC, he frequented the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum, meeting aviation legends. After grad school, Richard worked for Lockheed-Martin but stayed devoted to aviation, volunteering at museums and honing his photography skills. In 2013, he became the founding editor of Warbirds News, now Vintage Aviation News. With around 800 articles written, he focuses on supporting grassroots aviation groups.
