Doc’s Friends, the organization responsible for restoring, maintaining and operating the Boeing B-29 Superfortress known as Doc has recently announced that the vintage WWII heavy bomber will be operating out of Appleton, Wisconsin during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019. On July 24th and 25th, 2019, Doc’s Friends plans to offer two opportunities each day for members of the public to buy flights aboard the historic aircraft. Appleton is just a short distance away from Oshkosh, and the site will be easier to operate from than the hectic airspace around Oshkosh itself. Tickets for these events can be bought ahead of time via the following links…

According to Doc’s Friends… “Each B-29 Doc Flight Experience will last approximately 90 minutes and include a 30-minute ride. Prior to takeoff, passengers will experience a crew briefing and learn more about the history of the B-29 and role it played in U.S. history. Passengers will also get to hear and see the sights and sounds of engine starts and run-ups prior to takeoff.”
If you can’t make AirVenture to experience a ride, or see Doc fly, then there are a few other opportunities at different locations on offer as you can see below…
