“So You Want to Be an Airshow Pilot?” Aerobatic Training Event

Bring your own airplane to learn with airshow big names on your way to certification

Do you want to become an airshow pilot? The American Dream SkyRanch is hosting the third open Aerobatic Box training and evaluation camp at 18SC in beautiful South Carolina, September 27-29, 2024. At least 5 big name airshow pilots will be speaking about the ins and outs of low level aerobatics and airshow flying, including how to safely work your way through the ICAS – International Council of Air Shows SAC (Statement of Aerobatic Competency) levels and system. Two ACE’s will be on staff for evaluations and re-currency. The aerobatic competency evaluators and speakers are Scott Yoak, Greg Koontz Airshows, Buck Roetman, with additional speakers Clemens Kuhlig and Thom Richard. There will be P-40 and P-51 practice available as well as an 8KCAB Super Decathlon and T-6 Texans and various other aerobatic aircraft, but the primary purpose of the weekend is to bring your own airplane. If you have an aerobatic aircraft, flip-flop, Warbird, or Jet and would like to achieve certification to become a waivered airshow pilot, this is a golden opportunity instead of pursuing this on your own without guidance. You may also attend without an aircraft just to sit in on the ground sessions. Camping with your airplane is available. Tents and RVs are welcome. Hotels are 25 min away. This event is combined with the 2024 SkyRanch shootout (Fall Edition), which is an aviation photographer training camp led by Mike Killian Photography and Ricardo von Puttkammer. If you’re looking for airshow promotion photos, chances are you can get just about anything done this weekend! Please note that this is a private event not open to the public and is not an airshow. 18SC is a private airport. Waiver and insurance is required. If you prefer a larger paved runway for takeoff and landing, KGRD & KAIK and are nearby. Register for the event HERE.
