Countdown to Warbirds Downunder 2015

PRESS RELEASE – After more than 18 months of planning, the staff, crew and volunteers of the Temora Aviation Museum are now in the final stages of preparation for Warbirds Downunder 2015, which will take place this Friday and Saturday.Warbirds Downunder will feature ex-military aircraft from as far away as South East Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland providing visitors with the opportunity to get up close to some rare aircraft. The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society, also known as HARS, will be allowing guests to walk through their Lockheed Super Constellation and the RAAF C-130 Hercules will also be open for inspection.The flying program for Friday and Saturday has been finalised with an exciting line-up of performers scheduled to entertain and educate visitors. Strong support from the RAAF has brought to Temora the RAAF Roulettes, F/A-18 Hornet, C-130 Hercules, C-17 Globemaster, Wedgetail and King Air aircraft while HARS is bringing the Connie, Catalina Flying Boat, Caribou and C-47. Adding to the contingent of large aircraft are Spitfires, Mustangs, Kittyhawks, Yaks, Nanchangs, Winjeels, CT-4’s, Boomerang, Hudson, Meteor, Sabre, Corsair and many, many more.

There are a total of 67 aircraft displaying their capabilities in the program as well as over 150 general aviation and business aircraft that are expected to attend as aviators from around Australia make good use of Temora’s Aerodrome and high quality aviation facilities.“The detail which has gone into preparing for Warbirds Downunder 2015 is extraordinary with a focus on ensuring that every visitor who comes through the gate has the best experience possible” said the Museum’s Chief Executive, Kenny Love. “Warbirds Downunder 2015 is a world class display of vintage and historic aircraft complimented by the modern RAAF fleet including the Hornet. Once again we are implementing a Veteran’s Retreat where Veterans will be able to relax and catch up with mates. There are plenty of activities for the entire family including fun for the little aviators with free kid’s jumping castles and pedal cars available.”

AfterTemperatures this Friday are ideal for the scheduled Evening Airshow as the cooler night air rolls in for that perfect sunset sky and Saturday’s forecast is idyllic with a top of 26 degrees and clear skies.

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
