PRESS RELEASE — The Commemorative Air Force’s iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress returns to California and the Northwest U.S. this summer. It will be FIFI’s first visit in almost 20 years to many locations which include over 15 cities in Arizona, California, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Colorado. Highlighting the tour will be FIFI’s return to Boeing Field in Seattle. The B-29 is one of 1,100 produced at the Boeing Renton facility and the only B-29 in the world that still flies.
The year 2014 marks FIFI’s 40th year of flight with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). The airplane, rescued and restored by the CAF in the early 1970s, is a regular feature at airports and airshows all across the country. In fact, the B-29 Squadron of the CAF was the first group to begin touring historic war birds in 1974. Now, 40 years later, FIFI still barnstorms the country from coast to coast bringing the sights, sounds and smells of World War II aviation history to audiences across the United States.
The Superfortress will travel with a variety of World War II military aircraft including the P-51 Mustang Man O’ War. Other aircraft include the C-45 Bucket of Bolts, a T-6 Texan, and a Fairchild PT-19. Additional CAF airplanes will join the tour in several cities. The aircraft, all part of the CAF AirPower History Tour, will be on display and offering rides throughout each stop.
The tour runs from May 15 through August 4 and includes stops at Prescott, AZ; Lancaster, Bakersfield, Santa Maria, Salinas, Modesto, Sacramento and Napa in California; Olympia, Seattle, Everett and Spokane in Washington; Boise, Idaho; Provo and Salt Lake City in Utah; and cities in Colorado and Kansas yet to be determined.
About the CAF B29/B24 Squadron:
The CAF’s B-29/B-24 Squadron is a group of over three hundred men and women dedicated to the continued operation of the world’s only airworthy B-29 Superfortress, and one of just two B-24s still flying. The squadron is responsible for the maintenance and flight of these two significant WWII bombers. The B-29 and B-24 are feature aircraft in the squadron’s CAF AirPower History Tour. They tour the country with aircraft from other CAF units bringing “hands on history” to people across the United States. Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
I sure hope that North Bend Oregon is on your stop! Or was it dropped for Seattle/Olympia ? I might have to remake my schedule .
Thank-you for any info.

Hi. Do you have the dates for Fifi to visit Santa Maria and Salinas Calif. When can tickets be purchased for those dates?
John, you should check the website of the b29/B24 Squadron http://www.airpowersquadron.org/
I would like to purchase a ride for my husband’s 80th birthday…April 21, 2015. I tried to do it online to no avail. I tried your e-mail address: airpowertour.com and reached everything but the info to book a flight. Please respond so that I can make his “dream come true.”
Thanks, Sandra Watkinson
