Fall Activities At The New Englad Air Museum

On Sunday, October 13th the Museum will hold an Open Cockpit Day.  Visitors can climb into up to 12 aircraft including the A-10 Warthog, the P-47 Thunderbolt, the DC-3 airliner, jet fighters, helicopters and more.   On this day the Museum is also pleased to host the Second Annual Great New England RC Swap Meet.  Museum visitors will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of RC aviation from area remote control airplane enthusiasts.  All types of RC aircraft, parts, and accessories will be available for purchase.  Members of the Wintonbury Flying Club will have available RC simulators for visitors to try.  Learn about local RC clubs and how to become a member. This event is co-sponsored by the Wintonbury Flying Club and is included with Museum admission.

1116052_10151788911308158_1936500792_oIn November for the Veterans Day Program the Museum will host  Tribute to our Veterans, Servicemen and Servicewomen. The event will be held on Sunday, November 10th. Visitors to the Museum will have the opportunity to meet and talk one-on-one with veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. They will also have the chance to sit in the cockpits of a number of combat aircraft including the F-100 Super Sabre, the WWII Thunderbolt, the Huey Helicopter, the Cobra Helicopter and more. Additionally, there will be on hand representatives of numerous organizations that offer service & support to active servicemen, servicewomen, their families and veterans. They will provide detailed information about their programs.  Museum educators will provide hands-on activities for younger visitors and the Museum’s Flight Sim Spot full-flight simulator experience will be available throughout most of the day.  For the convenience of visitors, a food vendor will be on site serving sandwiches, snacks and beverages.
On this day and on each day in November all veterans and active service personnel will be admitted FREE OF CHARGE.

Located adjacent to Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, the Museum is the largest aviation museum in New England.The New England Air Museum houses over 80 aircraft in three large hangars and outdoor display area, as well as an extensive collection of engines, instruments, aircraft parts, uniforms and personal memorabilia. Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
