The Salzburg, Austria-based Flying Bulls Collection has just announced that they will be sending their meticulously restored and maintained Lockheed P-38L Lightning and Chance-Vought F4U Corsair for participation in the extraordinary seven-hour long flying display at one of the world’s largest military air shows, the annual Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

While one could never describe any flying WWII vintage aircraft as common, the Lockheed P-38 and Vought Corsair are especially rare in Europe, and having them appear for an aerial display is quite a treat. The Flying Bulls Collection, with corporate sponsor Red Bull who’s distinctive logo and script is featured as nose art on each of the planes have struck a mutually beneficial arrangement in the sponsorship of the collection, and while the Lightning might not sport a period-authentic paint scheme, it’s raw aluminum skin, polished to a mirror finish is visually arresting and shows the plane’s unique configuration to great advantage.

The Royal International Air Tattoo will take place at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England on July 20-21 and Warbirds News will be there to give you a full report.
