PRESS RELEASE

B-29 Doc is one of 1,644 B-29s built by the Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas, during World War II, and one of only two B-29 aircraft still airworthy and flying today. This year (2024) marks 80 years since Doc rolled off the assembly line in 1944. The mid-week tour stop will feature B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides in Ogden in the evenings on Tuesday, Sept. 24 and Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. both days, as well as morning flights on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9 and 11 a.m.

The B 29 Doc History Restored Tour will be a part of the Wings Wheels event at Decatur Airport August 3 4 2024

“Ogden and its surrounding area have a rich heritage in military and aviation history, dating back to as early as World War I and continuing with its present-day mission at Hill Air Force Base where our nation’s warfighters continue to serve today,” said Sean Elliott, B-29 Doc aircraft commander. “The proximity of nearby Wendover Field where members of the 509th Composite Group trained for atomic warfare and nuclear weapons during World War II is truly exceptional. Bringing B-29 Doc to an area like Ogden gives people a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with history and learn about the machines that were built to protect freedom and deliver victory for the Allies during the war. It also allows us to connect to and inspire future generations to serve, whether in our nation’s military or in an aviation or aerospace related career.”

Flight experience tickets for B-29 Doc in Ogden, UT, are on sale now at www.b29doc.com/rides. The mid-week stop for B-29 will include ride flights only and ground/cockpit tours will not be available in Ogden. Doc will arrive at Ogden-Hinkley Airport on Monday, Sept. 23, marking a halfway point from an air show in Great Bend, KS (Sept. 20-22) on the way to MCAS Miramar Air Show (Sept. 27-29).
