PRESS RELEASE – The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Red Tail Squadron will be at the Liberty Aviation Museum with multiple opportunities for all ages to experience the inspiring story of the Tuskegee Airmen – America’s first black military pilots and their support personnel. This will the be Squadron’s fifth consecutive visit to Port Clinton, thanks to the efforts of the community, including original Tuskegee Airmen Dr. Harold Brown, a native of Ohio, who will be on hand for the event.Come out and see the Squadron’s RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit mobile theater and WWII P-51C Mustang aircraft up close during an Open House for the general public Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To reserve a private showing for your school or organization September 15 through September 18, contact Jeff Sondles at (419) 732-0234 or jeffsondles@libertyaviationmuseum.org.

 Visitors will learn about the CAF Red Tail Squadron’s guiding Six Principles – Aim High, Believe In Yourself, Use Your Brain, Be Ready To Go, Never Quit, Expect to Win – and how they can be applied to their own lives. Local youth and community groups are encouraged to take advantage of this educational and inspirational opportunity!The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is a fully functional movie theater featuring the original short film “Rise Above.” This immersive experience is housed in a climate controlled 53’ semi trailer with expandable sides and equipped with a ramp and hydraulic lift to ensure access to all, comfortably accommodating 30 visitors for each showing. The Squadron’s P-51C Mustang will be on static display for up-close viewing, a rare treat for attendees as it is one of only a few like it still flying.

 Jennifer Bordner, a sixth grade teacher with the Margaretta Local School District, is bringing her students to the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit for the first time. “I encourage other teachers to bring their students. This is an event that can fit in with many areas of curriculum and meet a wide audience range,” she said. “My students are currently learning about WWII and bringing them to the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit will give them a different, diverse perspective on the war.” Liberty Aviation Museum is located at 3515 E. State Road in Port Clinton, Ohio. Entrance to the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is free, although standard admission to the Liberty Aviation Museum will apply.

His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
