CAF Minnesota Wing to Host Fall Bombers Moon Ball at Fleming Field

The CAF Minnesota Wing will host its annual Fall Bombers Moon Ball on Sept. 12 at Fleming Field, transforming Hangar 3 into a WWII-era dance hall complete with live big band music, swing dancing, vintage fashion, and historic aircraft. Guests can enjoy performances by the Roseville Big Band and Rhythm & Swing, take part in a vintage clothing contest, and get up close to the legendary B-25 Mitchell "Miss Mitchell" during an evening celebrating aviation history and the spirit of the 1940s.

Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Minnesota Wing, South St. Paul, Minnesota, will transport visitors back to the WWII era with its annual Fall Bombers Moon Ball on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at Fleming Field. Held inside Hangar 3 at the historic airport, the event will feature live big band music, swing dancing, vintage aircraft displays, and period-themed activities designed to recreate the atmosphere of a 1940s wartime hangar dance. Doors open at 6 p.m. Set against a backdrop of authentic WWII aircraft, including the CAF Minnesota Wing’s B-25 Mitchell Miss Mitchell, the evening will offer guests an opportunity to experience a blend of aviation history and live entertainment. Music will be provided by the Roseville Big Band, which will perform classic swing-era favorites made famous by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and other legendary bandleaders.

We can’t wait to bring the community together in our museum for an unforgettable night of music, dancing, and living history,” said Amy Lauria, Wing Leader of the CAF Minnesota Wing. “Whether you enjoy dancing, aircraft, or have a passion for history, this event is family-friendly and suitable for everyone.” The program begins with a complimentary introductory swing dance lesson led by TC Swing at 7 p.m., giving newcomers a chance to learn the basics before the Roseville Big Band takes the stage at 8 p.m. and performs through midnight. During the evening, attendees will also be treated to a dance exhibition by Rhythm & Swing, a Twin Cities-based Lindy Hop performance group.

Visitors who want the full 1940s experience are encouraged to arrive in period military or civilian clothing. The evening will include a vintage fashion contest, with prizes awarded for some of the best WWII-era inspired outfits. Beyond the dance floor, attendees can get up close to the Minnesota Wing’s historic aircraft collection, including the B-25 Miss Mitchell, which will provide a unique backdrop for photographs throughout the evening. Food will be available from K-Town Street Foods and Crystals Concessions, while Indeed Brewing Company will offer a selection of local beverages. Advance tickets are priced at $20, with admission increasing to $25 at the door. Student and military discounts will also be available with valid identification.
