The CAF Minnesota Wing museum, South St. Paul, MN, has announced that two well-known World War II bombers will make a joint appearance in St. Paul next summer as part of the B-29 DOC History Restored Tour. The stop is scheduled for July 16–19, 2026, at St. Paul Downtown Airport, where the flying Boeing B-29 Superfortress DOC and the North American B-25 Miss Mitchell will be on display together for visitors. DOC is one of only two B-29s still flying, while Miss Mitchell has long been operated by the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing. The pairing will allow visitors to see aircraft that played very different but equally important roles in the war.

“In 1942, the B-25—flown by the Doolittle Raiders from the deck of the USS Hornet—carried out the first Allied offensive strike against Japan,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “Three years later, the B-29 helped bring the war to an end in August 1945. Having both historic bombers on the same ramp gives us a rare opportunity to bring their stories to life and to honor the men and women who designed, built, maintained, and flew these legendary aircraft. We are inspired to partner with our friends at the Minnesota Wing of the CAF to offer the Twin Cities a unique chance to experience history up close.”

Organizers say the joint visit reflects a shared effort to keep historic aircraft accessible to the public while highlighting the people behind them. “We are thrilled to partner with the B-29 Doc once again at Holman Field. This collaboration provides a unique opportunity for people to experience history in a beautiful and historic setting,” said Amy Lauria, wing leader of the CAF MN Wing. “Holman’s Table and the historic terminal building offer a fantastic location for us to operate while enjoying the sights of St. Paul, MN, as well as the experience of the aircraft.”

Both aircraft are expected to arrive on Thursday, July 16. Public access will be centered around the historic terminal building at Holman Field, located at 644 Bayfield Street. Ground and cockpit tours are planned for Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, running from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with visitors able to approach the aircraft when they are not operating ride flights. Admission is set at $10 per person or $20 per family. Ride flight tickets for both aircraft are now available online at www.b29doc.com/rides for B-29 DOC and www.cafmn.org/history-flights.html for B-25 Miss Mitchell. Ride flight opportunities aboard both bombers are already open for booking online through their respective operators. The visit will wrap up Sunday morning, July 19, when DOC and Miss Mitchell depart St. Paul following scheduled ride flights and continue on to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 in Wisconsin.
