Historic B-29 DOC to Visit Sioux Falls July 13–16 with Ride Flight Opportunities

The flying B-29 Superfortress “DOC” will visit Sioux Falls Regional Airport from July 13 to 16, offering ride flight opportunities before the Power on the Prairie Airshow later that week. One of only two airworthy B-29s in the world, the aircraft’s visit will give aviation enthusiasts a rare chance to experience a World War II bomber in flight while building excitement for the upcoming airshow weekend.

Doc’s Friends, Inc., Wichita, KS, announced that its B-29 “DOC” will stop at Sioux Falls Regional Airport from July 13 to July 16, 2026. The stop comes just a few days before the Sioux Falls Power on the Prairie Airshow, which is scheduled for July 18 and 19. While the aircraft is in Sioux Falls, the focus will be on ride flight opportunities aboard the historic bomber. B-29 “DOC” is one of only two Boeing B-29 Superfortresses still flying today. Organizers say the aircraft’s appearance in Sioux Falls is intended to help build anticipation for the upcoming airshow while giving aviation enthusiasts a rare chance to experience a flight aboard the World War II-era bomber.

Warbirds are more than just airplanes – they are living pieces of history that tell the story of our nation’s military and aviation legacies,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “The stories behind B-29 DOC and the men and women who designed, built, and flew these warbirds to protect freedom are vitally important to preserving U.S. history. Air shows, and aviation events like what will happen from July 13-18 in Sioux Falls provide up-close and personal experiences with aviation that will unite families and inspire the next generation of aviators, while celebrating our nation’s history.”
