Doc’s Friends, Inc., Wichita, KS, the nonprofit organization that operates the Boeing B-29 Superfortress known as “DOC”, has announced that the aircraft will make a tour stop in St. Paul, Minnesota, July 16–19, 2026. The visit will be part of the B-29 DOC History Restored Tour and will feature a joint appearance with the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing’s B-25 “Miss Mitchell” at St. Paul Downtown Airport.

“DOC” remains one of only two airworthy B-29 Superfortresses still flying today, while “Miss Mitchell” continues to represent the CAF Minnesota Wing’s long-running efforts to preserve and fly historic warbirds. During the St. Paul stop, visitors will be able to take part in ground and cockpit tours and, when scheduled, book ride flights aboard both aircraft at Holman Field.

“In 1942, the B-25—flown by the Doolittle Raiders from the deck of the USS Hornet—carried out the first Allied offensive strike against Japan,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “Three years later, the B-29 helped bring the war to an end in August 1945. Having both historic bombers on the same ramp gives us a rare opportunity to bring their stories to life and to honor the men and women who designed, built, maintained, and flew these legendary aircraft. We are inspired to partner with our friends at the Minnesota Wing of the CAF to offer the Twin Cities a unique chance to experience history up close.”

The partnership reflects a shared goal between the B-29 “DOC” and the CAF Minnesota Wing to keep World War II aircraft accessible to the public while highlighting the people connected to their service. Events such as this tour stop allow visitors to see aircraft up close and, in some cases, experience them in flight.

“We are thrilled to partner with the B-29 Doc once again at Holman Field. This collaboration provides a unique opportunity for people to experience history in a beautiful and historic setting,” said Amy Lauria, wing leader of the CAF MN Wing. “Holman’s Table and the historic terminal building offer a fantastic location for us to operate while enjoying the sights of St. Paul, MN, as well as the experience of the aircraft.”

The aircraft is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, July 16. Public access for ground and cockpit tours will take place Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with entry available through the historic terminal building at 644 Bayfield Street. Admission will be $10 per person or $20 per family, with tickets available at the gate. Visitors will be able to board the aircraft when they are not conducting scheduled ride flights. Ride tickets can be purchased in advance at www.b29doc.com/rides for B-29 “DOC” and www.cafmn.org/history-flights.html for B-25 “Miss Mitchell”. Both aircraft are expected to depart St. Paul on Sunday, July 19, following morning ride flight operations, before continuing on to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
