The Military Aviation Museum, Virginia Beach, VA, will host its annual Living History Weekend on October 3, offering visitors an opportunity to explore military history through reenactments, historic vehicles, living history encampments, and the museum’s collection of vintage military aircraft. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the museum’s 130-acre campus, where historical groups representing periods from WWI through the Korean War will establish period-correct displays and encampments. The expanded historical focus coincides with activities surrounding America’s 250th anniversary and complements the museum’s collection of warbirds from multiple eras.
Visitors will be able to interact with living historians dressed in period uniforms, tour authentic encampments, view military vehicle demonstrations, and examine historic aircraft up close. The museum’s collection will be displayed throughout its four hangars and across the airfield grounds. Living history participants will begin arriving on Friday evening and remain through Sunday morning, creating an immersive atmosphere across the museum grounds. Food trucks will be available throughout the main event on Saturday.
In addition to the living history activities, guests may reserve scenic flights aboard the museum’s 1941 Boeing Stearman biplane, one of the aircraft regularly operated by the museum.
