The Shuttleworth Collection, located will relocate public parking away from its Front Paddocks beginning in 2027, ending a familiar feature of its airshows as the Trust prepares for new security requirements. The revised layout will move visitor vehicles to parkland behind Shuttleworth House, creating additional space for spectators, exhibitors, and attractions within the main event area. The changes follow a review of Shuttleworth’s event operations as attendance continues to grow across its airshows and smaller public events. Throughout the 2026 season, the Trust has been developing its risk management framework and testing security measures to assess how they would work across the site.

Shuttleworth has also hosted regional Counter Terrorism Security Advisors to help it understand the expectations of local authorities and regulators ahead of the introduction of Martyn’s Law, formally known as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025. The Security Industry Authority expects the legislation to come into force in spring 2027, with the exact date still to be confirmed.

One of the principal measures identified through Shuttleworth’s review is the removal of public vehicle parking from the Front Paddocks. Although parking within this area has long been popular with visitors, the Trust said it could not justify retaining public vehicle access under its developing risk management framework. Under the proposed arrangements, clearly marked pedestrian routes will connect the new parking area behind Shuttleworth House with the main event site. Additional overflow areas will support the parking plan. Blue Badge parking will remain in the paddock adjacent to the event site, with enhanced measures to separate vehicles and pedestrians. Free transportation will also be available between the parking areas and the event grounds. Options will include a land train, volunteer-operated shuttle buggies, and Shuttleworth’s vintage bus service between Shuttleworth House and the main arena.

Beyond the security changes, the Trust expects the revised layout to improve the visitor experience by bringing exhibitors, attractions, and amenities together while opening more space for spectators at the heart of the event. The proposed site map provides an indication of the new arrangements, although the layout remains subject to change as planning progresses for individual events. Shuttleworth acknowledged that the move will change an established part of attending its events. The Trust said its aim is to meet its safety responsibilities while preserving the distinctive character of a day at Shuttleworth.
