Registration for the Museum of Flight, Seattle, WA, Aerospace Camp Experience (ACE) opens first for members on February 20 at 11 a.m., followed by public sign-ups on February 21 at 10 a.m. The program is open to kids from grade K through 9, with financial aid available. Camp sessions are held weekly from June 22 through August 28. During their time at camp, students take part in hands-on activities focused on aviation and space. The days include group projects, experiments, visits from people who work in aerospace, and time spent exploring the museum’s aircraft and exhibits.

The Museum of Flight also offers financial assistance to help more families take part in the Aerospace Camp Experience. Families who would like to apply for a Campership can do so during camp registration or by contacting ACE at [email protected]. Two types of support are available. Partial Camperships allow families to request $100, $200, or $300 toward the cost of camp. A $6 administrative fee is required at registration, and any remaining balance must be paid before the camp session begins. That’s because funding is limited, and requests are reviewed in the order they are received. Families are notified within 14 business days. If a request is not approved, they may either keep the registration and pay the full amount or cancel and receive a refund of any fees already paid.

The Museum also offers a limited number of Full Camperships, which cover one full week of camp, including before and after care, at no cost to the family. Applications for these are available starting January 7 and must be submitted by 9 a.m. on February 2. Awards are made through a lottery system based on financial need. Factors such as participation in state or federal assistance programs, foster or kinship care status, household income, and other barriers to attendance are taken into account.

Families with more than one child may apply for multiple campers. Each child must have their own application, but sibling requests are reviewed together, and the Museum will try to support all eligible children in the same household when possible. Two online information sessions will be held on January 13 and January 29, from 6 to 7 p.m., to explain how the Full and Partial Campership programs work and to answer questions from families. The sessions will take place over Zoom, and registration is required. For more information and to support the Museum of Flight, click on the link: www.museumofflight.org.
