The Vulcan to the Sky Trust, Doncaster, England, has reported increased public interest in Avro Vulcan XH558 and its preservation work during October, following greater media coverage and encouraging developments surrounding the future of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. In its October monthly update, the Trust said the increased coverage had helped its story reach a wider audience, creating opportunities to reconnect with longtime supporters, welcome new ones and share its ambition to preserve XH558’s legacy for future generations.

The Trust also welcomed news of plans to bring Doncaster Sheffield Airport into public ownership. While work remains before the plans can be realized, the development has renewed optimism about the airport’s future and the Trust’s efforts to secure a permanent home for the Vulcan. The monthly update also looked ahead to the Trust’s Halloween Howl event, which was scheduled for the following day. More than 2,000 people were expected to attend the celebration, giving visitors another opportunity to engage with XH558 and the Trust’s work.
Craig Shepherd, the Trust’s chief executive officer, used the update to thank those who continue to support its activities through regular contributions, donations, volunteering, visits and purchases. He emphasized the importance of this support in maintaining the aircraft’s care while helping the organization work toward a secure long-term future. “Our Guardians provide regular support that helps us plan with greater confidence and sustain our preservation and education work,” Shepherd wrote. The Trust is encouraging supporters who can comfortably afford it to consider becoming Guardians, providing regular financial contributions that help sustain its preservation and education programs.
