Wings of the North has officially kicked off its 2025 Aircraft Sweepstakes, and this year’s prize is a beautifully restored 1950 Aeronca 7EC Champ—a classic two-seat taildragger with timeless charm and reliable performance. Located right in their own backyard in Brainerd, Minnesota, this tandem aircraft is ready to fly away with one lucky winner… or, if you prefer, you can walk away with a $30,000 cash alternative.
The Aeronca Champ is in excellent condition, with only 142 hours since a major overhaul in 2006. The wings were recovered in 2007 and the entire aircraft was repainted that same year. A new propeller was installed in 2008. The aircraft features a Garmin Com/GPS 250 XL, Tanis engine heater, wing tanks, Scott tailwheel, and is approved for auto fuel—making it both practical and fun to fly.
Proceeds from this year’s sweepstakes will support Wings of the North’s ongoing mission to establish a permanent home at Flying Cloud Airport (FCM), where the nonprofit aviation museum currently operates. All sweepstakes entries must be purchased online via www.wotn.org/sweepstakes.
In addition to the grand prize drawing, which will take place during Wings of the North’s fall pancake breakfast on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the organization will hold five additional prize drawings every other week starting July 19. Early entrants will be eligible for all six drawings—and each winning ticket is re-entered into the barrel for subsequent chances to win, including the final grand prize. Participants do not need to be present to win. Visit www.wotn.org/sweepstakes for full sweepstakes rules, prize details, and to secure your entries for a chance to take home a piece of aviation history—or a generous cash prize.
