This “space butterfly,” located roughly 525 light-years away in the Taurus star-forming region, is a protostar surrounded by a vast planet-forming disc measuring about 65 billion kilometers across—several times the diameter of our Solar System. The image combines data from the Webb Telescope’s NIRCam and MIRI instruments with optical observations from the Hubble Space Telescope.
