Palm Springs Air Museum – Palm Springs, California:
Saturday, July 11th, from 10:30am to 12:20pm, aviation enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sit behind the controls of a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk as the Palm Springs Air Museum hosts its traditional “Open Cockpit” event. A free activities booklet will be available for all children. As part of a yearly effort, the “Open Cockpit” program will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy an extra-special experience by being allowed to sit at the controls and pose for pictures. From 1pm to 3pm each Saturday all summer long, a selected aircraft will be opened up and made accessible to the public. In addition the Buddy Rogers Theater will play documentaries devoted to the featured aircraft all day long. Museum Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide the historical context for the aircraft. Guests are strongly cautioned to dress appropriately for climbing into the planes and also reminded not to leave their cameras at home!
