Palm Springs Air Museum – Palm Springs, California:

Saturday, July 11th, from 10:30am to 12:20pm, aviation enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sit behind the controls of a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk as the Palm Springs Air Museum hosts its traditional “Open Cockpit” event. A free activities booklet will be available for all children. As part of a yearly effort, the “Open Cockpit” program will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy an extra-special experience by being allowed to sit at the controls and pose for pictures. From 1pm to 3pm each Saturday all summer long, a selected aircraft will be opened up and made accessible to the public. In addition the Buddy Rogers Theater will play documentaries devoted to the featured aircraft all day long. Museum Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide the historical context for the aircraft. Guests are strongly cautioned to dress appropriately for climbing into the planes and also reminded not to leave their cameras at home!

Kids 5 and under get in free when accompanied by a supervising adult, as do active military personnel with valid ID including their immediate family.

July 18th: MiG-21 Fishbed Jet Fighter

July 25th : F-104 Starfighter

August 1st : AH-1 Cobra Helicopter

August 8th : F-4 Phantom II

August 15th: UH-1 Huey Helicopter

August 22nd: F4U Corsair

August 29th: P-40 Warhawk

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
