The Museum of Aviation welcomed its first visitors on Friday, November 9, 1984, showcasing 20 aircraft on an open-air display while another 20 were undergoing restoration. Since then, it has expanded to become the second-largest museum in the United States Air Force and ranks as the fourth most visited museum within the Department of Defense. The museum serves as a tribute to veterans and their families, while also inspiring current Airmen by highlighting the rich and storied heritage of the Air Force.
