The Museum of Flight, Seattle, WA, will transport visitors back to the golden age of jet travel with Sky Lounge 1970, a 21-and-over evening event celebrating the fashion, food, and culture of commercial aviation in the early 1970s. The event is scheduled to be on Saturday, Aug 15, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Inspired by the museum’s new Runway to Runway exhibition, the event will begin with a reception inside the exhibit, where guests can explore airline uniforms that defined one of the most recognizable eras of commercial aviation. The evening will then move to the Museum’s Aviation Pavilion, where attendees will enjoy a 1970s-themed dinner and drinks inspired by vintage international airline menus while surrounded by classic jetliners from the period.
Live music will be provided by The Vee Speeds, whose retro-inspired performance will accompany the festivities. The event will conclude with a conversation featuring retired flight attendants, who will recount personal stories from their time working aboard airliners during the 1970s. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1970s-inspired attire or cosplay reflecting the decade’s distinctive airline style. The event is limited to guests 21 and older, with a valid photo ID required for entry. Tickets are $120 for the general public and $110 for Museum members. Each ticket includes dinner, two drink tickets, and a commemorative gift, with additional beverages available for purchase at the cash bar.
