As reported few days ago after many years of searching for a UH-1H Huey to add to the Yanks Air’s collection, on August 31, 2013 the museum has received its first model. The unveiling will be tomorrow 10:00am-4:00pm at the Yanks Air Museum.
During the revealing of the restored UH-1H Huey, guest can hear gripping stories from the members of the 335th Assault Helicopter Company who flew the aircraft in combat. The panel of “Cowboys” will begin speaking at 10am.Visitors will the the opportunity to get a pilot’s eye view of what is possibly the most revered helicopter of the Vietnam War.
After the presentation the speakers will be available for signing and visiting until 2pm. The cockpit will remain open all day.
“This kind of event allows us to give kids a taste of history. When we enhance the experience and make it more hands-on, they tend to be more engaged. A lot of them probably haven’t been in anything other than a commercial airliner,” says Christen Wright, Museum Director.
Yanks is offering a speacial deal for the day of the event only.Admission for an entire family can be purchased for just $20.
Veterans and active military will receive free admission.

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
