The Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing’s Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey will visit the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California, from September 2 through September 6, 2026. Beginning Wednesday, September 2, the restored WWII bomber will be open for afternoon walk-through tours. Access to the aircraft will be included with regular museum admission. Visitors will be able to explore the B-17’s narrow fuselage and crew stations while learning more about the airmen who served aboard Flying Fortresses during WWII.
A limited number of passenger flights will be offered from Thursday, September 3, through Sunday, September 6 (click HERE to book your flight). Each flight will accommodate eight passengers and provide approximately 20 minutes in the air. Two seats are available in the nose section: the bombardier’s position at the front of the compartment and the navigator’s seat immediately behind it. The two passengers will be asked to exchange positions during the flight, allowing each to experience either takeoff or landing from the bombardier’s seat. Passengers assigned to the nose will remain within the bombardier-navigator compartment throughout the flight. Three additional seats are located in the radio room, with another three in the waist compartment. Once airborne, passengers assigned to these areas may move between the two compartments and enjoy the view through the large waist-gunner windows. They will remain within the radio and waist sections for the duration of the flight. The cockpit and bomb bay are off-limits to passengers while the aircraft is in flight.
The visit offers the public an opportunity to experience one of the world’s few remaining airworthy B-17 Flying Fortresses both on the ground and in the air.
