Roswell, NM – The National Championship Air Races (NCAR) are set to launch an exciting new chapter in 2025 as the event moves to its new home at the Roswell Air Center in Roswell, New Mexico. After six decades in Reno, this historic aviation spectacle will welcome fans from around the world from Wednesday, September 10, to Sunday, September 14, 2025. The event will feature seven classes of racing, thrilling aerial competition, static and military displays, vendors, food booths, and more. Tickets are now available for purchase online at www.airrace.org.
“We’ve worked tirelessly for two years to bring this beloved event to a new home, and now that tickets are on sale, we’re thrilled to share it with New Mexico,” said Tony Logoteta, COO of the National Championship Air Races. “This is not just a new location—it’s the beginning of a bold new era for air racing. Roswell provides a spectacular backdrop and an incredible opportunity to elevate the experience for fans, pilots, and the entire aviation community. We can’t wait for everyone to see the Roswell course, feel the energy of the competition, and be part of history.”
A variety of early bird ticket packages are now available, ranging from single-day passes to weeklong and VIP experiences. Demand for the event has been overwhelming, leading to an almost complete buy-out of hotels in Roswell. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of expanded RV camping options, offering a convenient and immersive way to experience the races. Additional lodging is available in surrounding towns, including Artesia, Ruidoso, Carlsbad, and Portales. Those flying in can reserve spots through Avflight.
“Moving to Roswell allows us to enhance the NCAR experience for both attendees and pilots,” said Fred Telling, CEO of the National Championship Air Races. “While fans can expect the same adrenaline-fueled competition across all seven racing classes, we’re also introducing new vendors, exhibits, and an unforgettable New Mexico backdrop. Longtime fans and newcomers alike will see just how exciting it is to hold the races in such an iconic location.”
The 2025 event will bring together over 100 planes and pilots, alongside hands-on experiences such as the STEM Education Discovery Zone, heritage displays, military demonstrations, and static exhibits. It will also mark the fourth year of STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) Drag competition, a fan-favorite both in the skies and across social media.
