On Saturday, November 8, 2025, aviation enthusiasts and admirers of Britain’s Cold War icon will gather at the Retford Majestic Theatre for a moving commemoration: the 10th anniversary of Avro Vulcan XH558’s final flight. Organized by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST), this special evening promises to honor the legacy of the world’s last flying Vulcan bomber — a symbol of British engineering excellence and a beloved presence at airshows for decades. The event begins at 18:30 with doors opening to a warm welcome from VTST volunteers. Attendees will have the chance to browse concession stands, meet members of the Trust, and take their seats for what is expected to be a sell-out evening of history, remembrance, and celebration.

The programme opens with a landmark screening of The Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber, starring Guy Martin and XH558, shown on the big screen for the very first time thanks to special permission from Channel 4 and North One Television. The film chronicles the remarkable journey to return XH558 to flight and her bittersweet farewell in 2015, a moment that drew thousands of spectators across the country. Following the screening, a moment of reflection will honor the pilots, engineers, and volunteers who have passed away in the decade since XH558 last flew. Attendees will then enjoy an intermission before hearing an update from VTST CEO Marc Walters, who will provide insight into the Trust’s ongoing mission to preserve the Vulcan’s story for future generations.

One of the most anticipated segments of the evening will be the opportunity to meet members of XH558’s ground and flight crews. Guided by special host and broadcaster Howie Pressman, the session will include a live Q&A with roving microphones, giving the audience a rare chance to engage directly with those who flew and maintained the legendary delta-wing bomber. The discussion will be interspersed with never-before-seen footage and archival clips from throughout XH558’s service and display career. The evening will conclude with Remember the Many, a powerful video tribute to Bomber Command, offering a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless aircrews during the Second World War and beyond.
