National Air and Space Museum Launches Reimagined Brand

Along with new exhibitions for the visitors to explore, the Museum has launched the new National Air and Space Museum brand, including the first new logo since the Museum opened its doors in 1976.

On Friday, June 10th the National Air and Space Museum unveiled its new logo, designed to signal the moments of awe that inspire and fuel innovation. The new Air and Space brand embraces the duality of our Museum: aviation and space, technology and humanity, imagination and reality, and past milestones and future achievements.

“The reimagined Air and Space brand exemplifies our vision of helping build a nation of innovators and explorers,” said Chris Browne, John and Adrienne Mars Director of the National Air and Space Museum. “Ahead of opening transformed exhibitions this fall, our new brand helps us reintroduce the nation’s aerospace collection with new stories and unforgettable experiences.”

The transformation is years in the making. The National Air and Space Museum has been working on the renovation and redesign of their location in Washington, DC, for a long time. The first eight reimagined galleries are scheduled to open later this year.

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum maintains the world’s largest and most significant collection of aviation and space artifacts, encompassing all aspects of human flight, as well as related works of art and archival materials. It operates two landmark facilities that, together, welcome more than eight million visitors a year, making it the most visited museum in the country.
