Mark your calendar for May 6th and May 7th for a unique and fun event at the Planes of Fame Air Museum.  “Wheels, Tracks, and Wings” brings together military vehicles, historical re-enactors, live demonstrations and presentations, and aircraft flyovers for an event you’ll long remember.

Up in the Sky

We’re conducting three “Flying Demos” each day!

Each “Flying Demo” will feature a brief outdoor presentation about the aircraft followed by engine start right in front of the crowd.  Each aircraft will then fly over the Museum for twenty minutes and upon its return, you’ll have a chance to meet and talk with the pilot.

We’ll be flying our North American B-25J “Mitchell” medium bomber, our Vought F4U-1A “Corsair” and our Curtiss P-40N “Warhawk” throughout each of the two days.  Flight times will be announced soon!

We’re also conducting three “Members Only Raffle Flights” in our Vultee BT-13B “Valiant” aircraft.  The winning members will be treated to a flight in this WWII-era basic trainer.

And, throughout the day, you’ll see our North American P-51D “Mustang” start up and leave on our “Living History Flying Experience.”  This is a chance for everyone to experience what a top World War II fighter aircraft is really like.  To learn more and book your flight, click the blue ribbon.

On the Ground

Stroll the Museum’s campus to see our incredible display of aircraft joined by visiting military jeeps, trucks, and other vehicles from our military past.

We’re conducting a special demonstration of the Museum’s powerful Sherman M4 Tank.  Our tank crew will explain a bit about this remarkable machine and then will start up its engines and put the tank through its paces in a presentation you won’t want to miss!

And we got dozens of historical re-enactors in military uniforms putting on demonstrations and telling stories to help you better understand and appreciate the sacrifices of our veterans.

We’re also hosting another “Hangar Talk” in our Maloney Hangar plus we’ve got several engaging presentations at other locations within the Museum.

Family Fun for Everyone

There is going to be a selection of food offerings, fun treats, and a special area for our younger visitors.  All in all, the 2023 “Wheels, Tracks, and Wings” event on May 6 and May 7 should be a great way to spend the day at Planes of Fame Air Museum.
