The National Flight Academy, located on the premises of the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, FL, continues its immersive STEM learning program for students, offering a summer experience that places participants inside a simulated aircraft carrier environment. Unlike traditional classroom-based STEM programs, the academy places students in a large-scale training facility known as AMBITION CVT-11, a four-story aircraft carrier simulator designed for interactive learning. During the program, students work in teams and take part in mission-based scenarios that require them to apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts while solving problems under time pressure.

Each day of the program introduces new mission challenges. Students analyze information, make decisions as a team, and respond to changing scenarios while working through simulated operations inside the carrier environment. The structure is designed to encourage collaboration and quick thinking while exposing participants to practical applications of STEM concepts.

The experience is centered on teamwork and communication as much as technical learning. Students operate in squads while carrying out mission tasks and working through complex situations that require coordinated planning and problem-solving. While STEM concepts remain at the core of the program, organizers say the experience also focuses on broader skills.

Participants are encouraged to develop leadership, communication, and critical thinking abilities while working alongside other students in the mission environment. Program organizers say many students leave the experience not only with a deeper understanding of STEM-related subjects but also with increased confidence and new friendships formed during the team-based missions.
