After more than a year of planning, regulatory coordination, and intensive pilot training, Aero Legends has successfully launched its highly anticipated Mach Loop Jet Experience, marking the first time members of the public have flown the legendary low-level route through the mountains of North Wales aboard an ex-military BAC Strikemaster. The inaugural week of operations represents a major milestone for the British warbird operator, whose unique experience was first announced late last year and immediately generated unprecedented interest among aviation enthusiasts. (Vintage Aviation News) During the launch week, 30 passengers took to the skies from Hawarden Airport, experiencing one of the world’s most famous military low-flying routes from the cockpit of a classic BAC Strikemaster. Flying through the valleys of the Mach Loop at speeds exceeding 300 knots, participants enjoyed an experience normally reserved for RAF and NATO fast-jet crews training in Low Flying Area 7. (Vintage Aviation News) The flights followed months of preparation involving operational planning, Civil Aviation Authority approvals, coordination with Hawarden Airport, and extensive pilot training to safely introduce civilian operations into one of the world’s most recognized military training environments.

According to Aero Legends, demand has exceeded even the company’s most optimistic expectations. Since the first flights took place, the operator has been inundated with enquiries and booking requests from customers across the United Kingdom and overseas. Every remaining Mach Loop flight for 2026 has now been sold, continuing the remarkable response that began when the experience was first announced. When the initial 30 flight slots were quietly offered to existing customers, they sold out in just 72 hours. Aero Legends subsequently released an additional 15 flights, which also booked within days, making the Mach Loop Jet Experience the fastest-selling product in the company’s history.

Although the 2026 schedule is now fully booked, Aero Legends says it is actively working behind the scenes to increase capacity later this year while expanding the program for the 2027 season. The company hopes those additional flights will allow more aviation enthusiasts to experience the unique combination of low-level mountain flying, military-style operations, and hands-on jet flight in the BAC Strikemaster. The Mach Loop program joins Aero Legends’ growing portfolio of historic aviation experiences, which already includes Spitfire, Harvard, and ex-military jet flights operated by former RAF and Red Arrows pilots. The company remains the UK’s only Civil Aviation Authority-approved operator offering passenger flights in ex-military jet aircraft.  In announcing the successful launch, Aero Legends thanked the passengers, pilots, engineers, operations staff, and everyone involved in bringing the ambitious project to life. For the team behind Jet Legends, seeing the BAC Strikemaster operating through the famous Welsh valleys represented the culmination of months of effort—and the beginning of a new chapter in experiential warbird aviation. With all flights sold out and additional demand continuing to build, the company is now focused on expanding the program so that more enthusiasts will have the opportunity to fly one of the world’s most iconic military low-level routes in the years ahead.
